Lauscha MILKY WAY FADED ROSE *REACTIVE * Opaque 6-8 mm ODD

Lauscha Milky Way "Faded Rose" Milky Way Pink Odd Lot 4-6mm mm. This was part of a series of odds manufactured in 2008. They all included silver and gold in them and because of that expense probably won't ever be made again.  Faded Rose has been renamed Champagne Mocha (not what I see when I melt it!)  and Fleshy Pink by others, however, the factory let Flamedame name this series of glass when it came out so our name is the original name. Great base for romantic florals and chintz beads and  a wonderful shade of dusty rose . . Hint. To bring out the reactive qualities layer one or tow layers of  silver leaf over the glass to wake up the silver crystals in the glass. Or try it with silver glass stringers.

Minimum purchase is 1/2 lb. Most Milky Way colors are translucent in the rod but turn opaque in the flame. The key to keeping them translucent is to work them cool and then do a quick cool down in the annealer.

The trick to the milky way translucency is that you make the bead. Then you reduce the area that you want to have remain translucent. Do this at the end of your torching day. I work 8-9 hours at the torch, so when I want to have a goddess with translucent bits, I reduce the bits that I want to have transparent, put her in the kiln the last thing. Then she still anneals for 2 hours, because they are sort of big beads, and then they cool down to 800 at a rate of 200 degrees per hour, then hold at 800 for 2 hours, and then go down to room temperature at 200 degrees per hour. "
You can freely mix and match this with your other COE 104 colors. Check out photos below for some of the things that this color will do. The organic bead has just one layer of foil added to it and then a rubino stringer and then was reduced. Smaller rods are more expensive than fatter rods. That is the way they come out of Lauscha.
