Meet my new hobby, Handmade Soap. It sort of snuck in after work when I was supposed to be exercising. It is too hot in the summer here to light a bead torch or even walk outside but messing up the kitchen with oils and lye is great fun. It it is about melting stuff just like melting glass. Why Handmade Soap? Soap made from scratch gives us control over what goes in it. The  bars here are very different from  store bought bars which use harsh chemicals and strip out the glycerine by product from the soap. I use the time tested method of lye mixed with fat of some sort to equal soap. The lye cooks away and leaves behind soap. It is a fascinating process. Bars are engineered to be rich, creamy, and bubbly and last a long time. Most of our oils are organic and they all are food grade. Stearic Acid derived from vegetables is used in some of the bars as a hardener. Some bars have a high amount, over 60 percent, of "butters' in them (as opposed to the few tablespoons that I see soapers throw into an entire batch.) We can't make any claim for ingredients sold here without running afoul of the FDA  so for all intents and purposes this is just Soap. You can google ingredients if you want to know more. We use either essential oils to scent or fragrance oils. Fragrance oils are phthalate free. All of these batches are small ranging from 2 to 4 lbs of each color/scent. Photos are of one bar. Designs will vary from bar to bar in each batch as the soap colors are swirled in the pot but the colors will be the same. Boxes are made from recycled paper. Our shopping cart has a $50.00 minimum for glass rods but there is no minimum for soap bars. Please email me what  you want and I will invoice you.
